Talvo Press
Methodology / Review Framework

How entries are reviewed.

Each product in the catalogue passes through a consistent five-step review framework before appearing in the record. The framework applies equally to body care and supplement entries. No entry is listed before review is complete.

5
Review Steps
01 / The Review Framework

Five steps from submission to listing.

01

Submission & Initial Record

A product is submitted to the catalogue with its full ingredient list, supplier name and country of origin. An initial record is created in the internal review archive.

02

Ingredient List Review

The ingredient list is reviewed for completeness. Each ingredient is noted against its INCI name where applicable. Incomplete lists are returned to the submitter with a request for the outstanding information.

03

Sourcing Documentation

Supplier documentation is requested for primary ingredients. Where available, this includes country of origin, organic certification if claimed, and batch-level traceability. Documentation is archived against the entry record.

04

Classification & Annotation

The entry is classified within the catalogue taxonomy: body care (cream, butter, balm, lotion) or supplement (vitamin complex, mineral blend, botanical supplement). Key ingredients and format are annotated in the entry record.

05

Approval & Listing

The completed review record is approved and the entry is added to the public catalogue. The review date and edition number are noted in the record. The entry is eligible for seasonal update review each quarter.

02 / Body Care Criteria

What the catalogue looks for in body cream and body butter entries.

For body care entries, the catalogue focuses on three primary criteria: the completeness of the ingredient declaration, the nature of the base ingredients, and the presence of botanical sourcing claims.

Formulations built on plant-derived bases — shea butter, jojoba oil, cocoa butter, squalane — receive a full sourcing documentation request. Where synthetic fragrance is present, this is noted in the catalogue entry without judgment; the catalogue records rather than evaluates.

Complete INCI ingredient list supplied
The full International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients list is required. Proprietary blends without component disclosure are flagged.
Plant-derived base ingredient documentation
Shea butter, argan oil, jojoba and similar plant-derived bases require sourcing documentation. Cold-pressed claims are noted and cross-referenced.
Botanical claim verification
Where 'organic', 'natural' or 'botanical' claims are made, certification documentation is requested and, where provided, archived in the entry record.
Fragrance and allergen disclosure
Synthetic fragrance compounds are noted in the catalogue record. Known contact allergen declarations are recorded without scoring the formulation.
Format and volume documented
Packaging format (jar, pump, tube, tin) and volume are recorded in the catalogue entry alongside the review date and edition.
03 / Supplement Criteria

What the catalogue looks for in vitamin and supplement entries.

Supplement entries are reviewed with additional attention to nutrient form. The form in which a vitamin or mineral is delivered — methylcobalamin versus cyanocobalamin for B12, for instance — is considered a core element of the ingredient record and is noted accordingly.

The catalogue notes nutrient form without evaluating relative superiority. Readers seeking guidance on specific nutritional requirements are directed to a qualified wellness professional.

Nutrient Form Noted Why It Is Recorded
Vitamin B12 Methylcobalamin / Cyanocobalamin Form affects bioavailability; catalogue records the declared form.
Vitamin C Ascorbic Acid / Sodium Ascorbate Buffered forms are noted separately for completeness of record.
Vitamin D Cholecalciferol (D3) / Ergocalciferol (D2) Origin (animal or plant-derived) noted where documentation supports it.
Magnesium Oxide / Citrate / Glycinate Salt form is part of the complete ingredient record and is noted.
Zinc Gluconate / Picolinate / Oxide Declared form recorded in the supplement entry without evaluation.
Iron Bisglycinate / Fumarate / Sulphate Form is noted; catalogue does not score relative tolerance profiles.
04 / Update Cycle

Seasonal review. Consistent record.

The catalogue is reviewed each quarter. Each edition carries a review date; entries updated in a new edition have their review date amended accordingly. Previous edition records are retained in the archive.

Corrections to existing entries are noted explicitly in the record. Where a previously listed product has changed its formulation and the new ingredient list has been verified, the entry is updated and the change is noted with the amendment date.

Entries may be withdrawn if supplier documentation can no longer be verified or if a formulation change cannot be confirmed. Withdrawn entries are removed from the public catalogue but retained in the internal archive.

05 / Disclosure Policy

Independence and disclosure.

Talvo Press is an independent catalogue. It does not carry advertising, accept sponsored listings, or accept payment for inclusion in the catalogue. The catalogue selection team operates independently of the suppliers listed.

Where any commercial relationship exists between the selection team and a listed supplier — for example where complimentary product samples have been received for review purposes — this is disclosed in the relevant catalogue entry.

Correspondence regarding the methodology, correction requests, and submission enquiries can be directed to the studio. The team endeavours to respond to all methodology enquiries within five working days.
